On Easter Monday at 11.30-12.30, Isabella also leads a pop-up workshop on chanting fundamentals. We learn how to pronounce the Sanskrit alphabet and chant some basic mantras. If you are interested, email us to register.

MONDAY 12 April is new moon. No Mysore class this day. The foundation course in the evening takes place as planned

During the Christmas and New Year holiday season we have a special schedule in place with slightly altered opening hours. All regular classes are held live at the shala and broadcast via Zoom. We also have a few extra yoga workshops and happenings in the days after Christmas. You can check out all of them on our events page . img_2571December and the holiday season lies ahead of us; 2016 draws to an end and a new year with new adventures is waiting. The autumn schedule continues until 21/12, followed by a holiday schedule from 22/12 to 31/1. Download your copy of the XMAS and New Year schedule or consult the schedule page.

We start December with the monthly GUIDED CLASS and an END OF SEASON BRUNCH on Sunday 4/12. The Mysore class is cancelled that 12391831_888187361297225_6926102448896074383_nday. The guided Primary Series starts at 9:30am and is taught in traditional Sanskrit. Everyone is welcome to take part regardless if you’ve completed the series or not. After class I invite you to our annual pot-luck brunch, a great opportunity to socialize off the mat. If you can’t come to class you are welcome to just join the brunch. Bring something (vegetarian/vegan) to share. Family members are also welcome.

BETWEEN X-mas and New Year, we have late morning Mysore classes in Malmö from 9-11.15am. For newcomers to Ashtanga we also offer a special INTENSIVE COURSE for 4 days. Course participants get free access to all Mysore classes throughout January 2017. The course is great Christmas gift for someone you care about! More information here

68492_306795936099858_263873287_nThe last FRIDAY-FUN of the year takes place on 30/12 at 5-7pm in Malmö. The theme of the class is “giving” and participants are encouraged to make a financial contribution in support of the organization V-Care in Mysore, India. The class will be a guided Primary Series and all are welcome to attend but please register in advance here. If you can’t attend but would like to make a donation please email us.

On MOON-DAYS we follow the Ashtanga tradition and take rest. In December the full/new moon falls on 14/12 and 29/12. Read more here.

The next newsletter will be issued in early 2017 and includes information about the spring schedule (Feb to Jun), info on new beginner’s courses in Lund and Malmö, upcoming workshops and summer retreats. I can already announce a weekend workshop in Visby over the May Day holiday 2017 (more info here). Until then I wish you all happy holidays and I hope to share much of this winter with you since I’ll not travel to Mysore this season.

Newsletter January 2016

imageHappy new year from Mysore, India. I hope you’ve had a good start to 2016 and are eager for more yoga this spring. In January I am in Mysore to study with my teacher R Sharath Jois at the KPJAYI to deepen my knowledge of Ashtanga yoga. All with the aim to better share the fruits of yoga with you. In my absence Miho and Sara cover all classes of the slightly reduced winter schedule until 2/2. Get your copy of the winter schedule here

I resume teaching on 3rd of February and from then the regular schedule is back on with a few additions and some other improvements to it – read about all the news

– EXTRA SELF-PRACTICE from 8:30 to 10:30 following the morning-Mysore on weekdays (Mon + Wed + Fri) for anyone who overslept or just wants to practice later. Please note that there is only teacher assistance until 8.30. See the updated schedule on the schedule page

– NEW MEMBERSHIP CARDS for one, three or five months can be purchased as from January 2016. Since the Mysore class schedule is running throughout the year we introduce a new form of membership cards. The new cards are valid from the day of purchase which gives you more freedom compared to limited season cards. The card price takes into account that there may be shorter breaks at some point during the year. 10-times “klippkort” are still available, as well as a student discount and the opportunity to split the payment if necessary. Buy your card via the K-yoga website or from the teacher when you come to class. Price info here

– NEW BEGINNERS’ courses start mid-February in Malmö and Lund respectively The much appreciated complementary 1 Mysore-class /week for all course participants will continue during the spring. All courses, start dates, prices can be found on the website under Events.

– FREE INTRO session to Mysore style takes place in Malmö on Sunday 7/2. A good opportunity for those who are interested in knowing more about Ashtanga yoga practice. Check out all the details of time and place here

– WORKSHOPS the popular “Vinyasa technique” workshop resumes this spring and we will continue with the workshop series “Ashtanga yoga in theory and practice”. More details are available at the workshops’ page

– FREE CHANTING continues on Sundays before Mysore class. All are welcome! In February we start with the first chapter of Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras, one of the main texts of Ashtangayoga.

I look forward seeing many old faces and get to know new students upon my return in February. Until then, I hope you continue to practice diligently both on and off the yoga mat. Please share this newsletter with friends and family who might be interested in yoga. The more people who experience the positive effects of yoga the better!
