YINYOGA & MEDITATION with Miho, 3 summer classes

During the summer of 2020, Miho teaches three special classes of Yinyoga and meditation. The classes take place on a monthly basis (24/6, 22/7 and 26/8) on site at the shala and online through the virtual meeting tool Zoom. You may attend all or individual sessions.

The teacher, Miho Hellén-Halme, is a qualified Yinyoga teacher and a regular practitioner of Ashtanga yoga.

Yin yoga is a slow-paced, calm style of yoga where you take time to explore the sensations in your body. You stay in simple seated or lying postures for a long time (2-3 minutes to begin with), turn your attention inward and scan your body to see if there is any tension, while trying to relax using your breath. In this way you stimulate and stretch the connective tissues that keep all the muscles and organs together while at the same time you cultivate tranquillity and awareness.  The visual shape of the posture becomes secondary to how you surrender and focus on inner sensations. This is a perfect complement, both physically and mentally, to more dynamic forms of training such as Ashtanga yoga.

At the end of the class, we will do a semi-guided meditation for 10 – 15 minutes. All levels of practitioners are welcome regardless of previous yoga experience!

Please remember to:

– bring a cushion or a blanket (which you can fold and use as a cushion) to sit on during the meditation session. Yoga blocks and smaller blankets/towels can also be good to have.

– as we will mostly sit or lie down, bring a long-sleeved clothes if it is a chilly day.
