Our popular introductory class in Ashtanga Yoga for beginners returns in the summer of 2021. On Monday 14/6 at 17:15-18:45 you have the chance to try Ashtanga Yoga in a special introductory format. Following the class you are offered the unique opportunity to practice at all our Mysore classes for no extra cost during two weeks (read more below).
The introduction session gives you an insight into the basics of Ashtanga yoga and is suitable for those who have never tried yoga before, but also to those who have already practiced other types of yoga and who want to learn the special method of Ashtanga vinyasa. The main focus of the class is to make the participants become acquainted with their own breath, learn how to synchronize breath and movement (so-called vinyasa krama) through the practice of Sun Salutation A + B and some closing postures from the Ashtanga Yoga Primary series. You will also get a brief insight into the background and philosophy of yoga, some health benefits for body and mind as well as practical advice on how to get started with a regular practice.
All participants are offered to take part in two weeks of Mysore classes immediately after the introduction – FOR FREE. Mysore class is the way Ashtanga yoga traditionally is practiced. Read more about the Mysore classes under class descriptions
The teacher is Isabella Nitschke, Authorized Level II by Sharath Jois in Mysore, India
The class is given in partnership with Medborgarskolan. Pre-registration is required and done through Medborgarskolans website (click the link).
