This course is suitable for those who’ve taken a beginner’s course at Ashtanga Yoga Malmö and/or at another shala and who wish to continue with guided classes instead of, or in parallel with, Mysore classes.
It is also suitable for those who prefer to practice guided class in a slower pace or need more time to go through the positions with instructions. We also recommend the course to students who’ve had a break from their practice and need to refresh their memory.
The course starts on Thursday 17 September and runs for 10 weeks with possibility to extend. The teacher is Sara Björs, authorised Ashtanga yoga teacher by Sharath Jois in Mysore, India.
At every session the teacher will guide you through the standing sequence and the first seated postures of the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series. Each class will also focus on how to prepare for particularly challenging asanas such as back bends and shoulder stand. The application of breathing technique, bandha, muscle activation and alignment will be emphasized throughout the course to give you a good foundation for your practice. The pace is slower than in a traditionally guided class and the teacher will demonstrate asanas if needed. The aim of the course is to facilitate your learning of the breathing technique, vinyasa and sequence, to make you more independent in your yoga practice.
Attendees should have learnt the basics through a beginner’s course in Ashtanga yoga.

It’s always useful to go to Mysore classes in parallel with the course.
You need to be at least 16 years old to attend (under 18 need parental approval).
